The End is nigh!

"I just want to graduate" is a common sentence used by more than 80% of seniors.  Graduation is defined as  receiving or conferring of an academic degree or diploma. It is also a day when the seniors of Northwood high school walk out of the very doors they came  in when they were Freshman. "Four more years and I am outta here- that's what I said when I was a Freshman", said Diamond Goodine, a Senior who is going to graduate this May.  To walk up that stage and receive that diploma is a  dream come true for most seniors. After all, they have been waiting for this day since their first day of Freshman year. The graduation ceremony will be held at Constitutional Hall on May June 10.

The forgotten: Transition from real to fiction

Have you ever wondered what happened to the good shows like One Tree Hill  and the O.C. Shows that weren't supernatural, didn't include magic, vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies etc.. Well they are no longer on TV. Nowadays, people like shows that include magic and the supernatural. They want teen paranormal romances like Twilight, Vampire Diaries,  True blood, Teen Wolf etc... Even the book genres have changed.  Now the famous books to read are Twilight, The immortals series, Unearthly series etc.. So what happened to the shows that were more realistic. The ones that we could relate to in our lives,the ones that made you believe in things like true love , friendship, and forgiveness. What happened to books like A Walk to Remember, 1984, A Brave world etc...? Well they were forgotten

One Magical night!

One of the most important night for the seniors , besides graduation, is Prom. Prom is the night where seniors come together for  high school dance  for one last time. For some seniors, it is the last night where they will hang out with friends  they have known since their Freshman year . Besides seeing their friends for the last time,  the other most important thing for the girls are their prom dress. Every girl imagines their dress to be the most beautiful compared to all the girls and she wants to look back at her Prom and say "I wore this gorgeous dress for prom back in high school it was..." . "Backless and diamonds, that is how I want my dress to be, I want my dress to leave a lasting image in people's minds. ", said Diamond Goodine a senior who is going to graduate this year.

Seniors v. Juniors: Who will win?

The Senior vs. Juniors powder puff game is coming up, and  you know what this means, football players  in cheering, cheerleader in their football uniforms. This is going to be one interesting game, actually the seniors last powder puff before they leave for college. The juniors on the other hand want the glory as bad as the seniors do. This is their chance to beat the seniors again  and to prove to the school that they are the class that is on top.  So saddle up and get your tickets quick  for May 3rd because folks, this is going to be one game you wouldn't want to miss.

AP fees

 One of the most important and hard classes offered at Northwood high school is an AP class. Although it might a very difficult and stressful  class to pass, it is also a very expensive one with the exception of students who have free lunch. The fee for one AP class, for a student who does not have free lunch , is $89 while being $15  for student with free lunch. Northwood high school is paying 60,000 dollars for all the AP test which equivalent to the price of two BMW's.  In addition to taking their AP exams in May, the AP's offer Mock exams to help students know what level they are so they can know what to study for their exams.

A bitter end

Is the newspaper era really coming to an end? Well, the answer is yes. Nowadays, everything is on the internet ranging from books, magazines, newspapers, you name it. Even newspaper companies have resorted to posting things online. This is because it literally takes seconds to go on the internet .One newspaper who has been reduced from its former glory is the New Orleans Times Picayune. This newspaper used to have to be a part of a beloved society that read each issue from cover to cover n, but now since the internet era began , the number of its readers have been decreasing. In the end, in order to save money, they started printing three times a week. So the question on everyone's mind is this: Could this happen to school newspaper's like the Northwood red and black.

Fight=No pie eating contest

Students at Northwood high school were disappointed when the interim principal, Mr. Mark Kelsch, made an announcement on the school's morning announcement WNHS saying that he had cancelled their pie eating contest after a fight broke out in the cafeteria on January 13, 2013.Prior to this fight,the principal had made an  another announcement the week before saying that if another fight broke out he would cancel the pie eating contest that was to be held on January 14,2013. And so he did. In the announcement he had also mentioned that if there are any more fights, even after pie day, he would cancel other major events like Mr. Northwood, prom etc…
